For the launch, each 500ml bottle of Sir Fruit Sweet C will wear a mini red superhero cape, made by the team from Diepsloot, Soweto. The money for the capes will go towards the Jacobs Well Village NPC that looks after orphans and vulnerable children. Right off the bat, the launch has raised R25 000 for the Jacobs Well Village NPA.

A collaboration between creatives and the community led to the formation of the Diepsloot Worker Co-operative three years ago. The co-op started creating an innovative product range of up-cycled corporate gifts and fair trade promotional clothing.

“The team at ilovediepsloot.co.za are just phenomenal,” says Sir Fruit’s marketing manager, Roanne Goldsmith: “they are modern day superheroes and we are honored to work with them on this campaign. Sweet C is a bit of a superhero itself in the fruit world. So what better way than to celebrate and contribute to real-life superheroes that are making a difference in our communities.”

Pierre du Toit, marketing manager of Jacobs Well says; “It is with delight that we partner with Sir Fruit on a launch that honours our local Super Heroes and Sir Fruit’s valiant new product, Sweet C. In a world where bad news gets more attention than good news, it is such a marvelous idea to focus on superheroes who, behind the scenes, day by day, year by year, make a huge difference in their communities. The team at I love Diepsloot produce beautiful things of excellent quality and the profits directly contribute to the daily care of 55 disabled and vulnerable children at Jacobs Well Village NPC."

Jacobs Well’s latest projects include a dining room and a multi-media library on the premises of Jacobs Well Village. Ongoing training of care workers and further education of early childhood development teachers are always high on the priority list. Their vision is to develop a village that cares for 400 orphans and vulnerable children.
